SAVVOPOULOS, IOANNIS [1914-1976]. "The Exodus of Messolonghi".
Glass vase with engraved embossed depictions [1960/63]. Engraved signature at the base. Dimensions 30 cm (11,75 inches) height x 17,5 cm (7 inches) upper diameter x 10 cm (4 inches) base diameter.
[Greek painter and engraver Ioannis Savvopoulos had taken part in a lot of exhibitions from 1945 until the end of his life. He worked for many years at the Fertilizer Company of Bodosakis Group of companies and has captured many positive reviews from: Greek composed Mikis Theodorakis, Greek actress and Minister of Culture Melina Merkouri, Greek director Minos Volonakis, Greek actor Vangelis Kazan, Mayor of Aegaleo city Panos Spiliopoulos, Piraeus prefecture director Yiannis Michas, Greek composer Yiannis Markopoulos, among many others. His works can be found in many public buildings and institutions. He has painted Adolf Hitler's portrait following a pan-hellenic competition on Hitler's demand].
